Hydropower Analysis Tool
Hydropower Generation Loss Analyzer
This tool calculates generation loss caused by forced outages and plant startup delays in hydropower plants. It allows engineers to analyze outage duration and estimate generation loss based on plant operating conditions.
Step 1: Input Fields
User Manual: Hydropower Generation Loss Analyzer
Enter times in strict hh:mm am/pm format and dates in YYYY-MM-DD format, then click a calculation button.
- Forced Outage: uses Trip -> Restore timeline.
- Plant Outage: uses Trip -> Sync timeline (or Restore -> Sync if Trip is not provided).
- Generation Loss Formula: Generation Before Trip x Ported Time (hours).
- Relation with Rated Capacity: Generation Before Trip must be less than or equal to Plant Rated Capacity; loading percent = (Generation Before Trip / Rated Capacity) x 100.
Example 1: Forced Outage (NEA)
Trip: 03:10 pm, Restore: 04:40 pm, Generation Before Trip: 4200 kW, Rated Capacity: 5000 kW
Outage duration = 90 minutes = 1.5 hours
Generation loss = 4200 x 1.5 = 6300 kWh
Pre-trip loading = (4200 / 5000) x 100 = 84%
Example 2: Plant Outage
Trip: 11:30 pm (2026-03-16), Sync: 12:45 am (2026-03-17), Generation Before Trip: 3500 kW, Rated Capacity: 4800 kW
Outage duration = 75 minutes = 1.25 hours
Generation loss = 3500 x 1.25 = 4375 kWh
Pre-trip loading = (3500 / 4800) x 100 = 72.92%
If you enter BS dates, keep BS-to-AD conversion support loaded so timestamps are interpreted correctly.
